How to Indent Text in Microsoft Word

Indenting a paragraph means moving its first line slightly inward from the left margin. This helps to visually separate paragraphs and make a document easier to read by providing a clear starting point for each new paragraph.

To indent a paragraph, place your cursor at the beginning of the paragraph and then hit the tab key on your keyboard. The tab key is on the left side of your keyboard. Sometimes it has the word tab written on it, sometimes it just has 2 arrows. In other cases, it has both the word and the arrows. Look at the pictures below and compare them to your own keyboard.

Alternatively, you can hit the spacebar 8 times to indent a paragraph.
